David Mahon is the Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer of Mahon China Investment Management Ltd., a pioneering private equity investor in China. For three decades Mahon China has advised multinationals and small/medium enterprises on their China strategies. The firm has managed five funds totalling approximately $300 million, with investments made into 29 companies in sectors including agriculture, textiles, optical instruments, automotive parts, construction equipment, technology and telecommunication services. Mahon China also restructures and exits assets — stalled funds, stressed equity investments, or nonperforming loans to Chinese companies.

Mr Mahon writes and publishes China Watch, a quarterly review of China’s political, economic and social developments, and the China New Zealand Report. He is also a regular commentator in the Chinese and international news media. A native New Zealander, Mahon has lived in China since 1984.
