Marry Me For Chinese Citizenship: A Socially Artistic Message
Spotted in New York City subways and streets are quite a few young Chinese women carrying tote bags that read, “Marry Me for Chinese Citizenship.”
The bags are the creation of NYU graduate Li Shuang, and meant to convey a social and political message in an artistic way.
Shuang is bringing attention to the U.S. policy that grants professionals of extraordinary ability the right to stay in the country legally and she herself is struggling to obtain this type of visa. And she’s also making money by selling these bags.
